Preventing Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer
is common in most men. Some die of other causes with no knowledge
of ever having prostate cancer. With diagnosis of prostate cancer
becoming more accessible and reliable, men as young as early 40's
are being diagnosed, treated and never suffer a recurrence. However,
the better course of action is to prevent prostate cancer.
Prostate Cancer Prevention
Prostate cancer prevention is a combination of:
- Maintaining hormonal balance
- Prostate supporting nutrition
- Lifestyle choices
- Medical drugs
Hormonal Balance
The drop in testosterone in men sets off a trigger response causing
enlargement of the prostate gland, leading to non-carcinogenic hyperplasia
and prostate cancer. This outcome is preventable by men receiving
testosteron HTR [Hormone Replacement Therapy], in the same way as
women overcome menopausal symptoms with estrogen HRT. Read

Nutrition
Toxins play a major role in all cancers. Maintaining a low toxic
diet and supplying your body with sufficient antioxidants to rid
the body of built up toxins and free radicals has a postive impact
on preventing all types of cancer. Read more about nutrition
in prostate cancer.
Lifestyle Choices
Not smoking and avoiding excessive alcholol help maintain a healthy
prostate. So too does regular ejaculation.
Research has shown that regular [more than five times per week]
masturbation can cut the risk of prostate cancer by up to 66%. This
is because regular ejaculation reduces the buildup of carcinogenic
deposits in sperm which can damage the cells lining the prostate.
Medical Drugs
More recent studies have shown positive indications that low doses
of two drugs commonly used for other medical conditions may stop
the progression of prostate cancer. Celebrex [used in treatment
of arthritis] and Lipitor [ used to control cholestorol levels],
when combined prvent early prostate cancer tdeveloping into the
more aggressive, fatal stage. [Source: Rutgers University - New
Jersey].
Since Celebrex has side effects in larger doses - the study will
continue for another 5 years before the protocol is widely adopted.
However, since its use in the prevention of progression of prostate
cancer is at a low level, there is high hope that the current human
trials will have a positive outcome without any damaging side effects.
Other drugs, Proscar [finasteride] and Dutasteride are being evaluated
for their preventative activity.
- Proscar - is used to treat benign prostatic
hyperplasia [BPH], and it is th.
- Dutasteride - an FDA approved drug for BPH
with positive effects on hairloss
