Options in breast cancer treatment used to be few, but with more
available today, a woman can feel more in control of her treatment
choices and her body.
The preferred option in early detection breast cancer is Breast
Conserving Treatment. This involves a lumpectomy and follow up radiation.
To further enhance the radiation treatment, known as Brachytherapy,
a catheter may be inserted into the site of the lumpectomy so that
radiation can be delivered only to this area, and not the entire
breast. Radiation therapy is delivered using this mechanism twice
daily, for five consecutive days
