Alzheimers Symptoms
Symptoms of Alzheimers
- Early — patients become less energetic
or spontaneous. These subtle changes commonly go unoticed even
by the patients' immediate family. This stage is termed Mild Cognitive
Impairment [MCI].
- Mild - Minor loss of memory [amnesia], typically
minor forgetfulness. This progresses steadily with illness progression,
with relative preservation of older memories.
- Moderate — the patient is often still
able to perform tasks independently, but may need assistance with
more complicated activities.
- Severe — at this late stage of the disease,
the patient will not be able to perform even the simplest of tasks
on their own and will need constant supervision. They often lose
the ability to walk or eat without assistance. Progression of
Alzheimers
Alzheimers progresses somewhat slowly through the stages, which
makes its detection more difficult.
